The Kulmat overshirt is made of a cotton and linen blend twill and has a relaxed, straight fit. It features the Unikko pattern, which is printed in Helsinki. The overshirt has a pointed collar, a jean button closure, and one chest pocket. The sleeve cuffs have buttons and are adjustable.
Our overshirts are sewn using the whole fabric width, so their appearance may vary. Each item is unique.
Unikko was created by Maija Isola in 1964 and has since become an international icon of print design. The founder of Marimekko, Armi Ratia, believed it was impossible to faithfully capture the true essence of natural flowers in print, so floral prints were earlier excluded from Marimekko collections. So, Maija Isola designed Unikko to be an abstraction of a flower rather than a photorealistic rendition. Today, Unikko is a powerful emblem of joy and creativity, seamlessly integrated into Marimekko´s design identity.
